Assessing Fluency Readiness
Fluency in mathematics extends beyond speed and accuracy; it involves a deep understanding of
mathematical concepts and the ability to apply a range of strategies flexibly and effectively. The
KCM Fluency Readiness Assessments are designed to identify whether students have the
foundational skills and conceptual understandings needed to develop this kind of meaningful
fluency. These assessments highlight students' abilities to move across representations (e.g.,
visual, symbolic, contextual), connect equivalent forms of expressions or problems, and apply
multiple strategies for solving mathematical tasks.
