Early Addition Strategies within 100: Bead String

a Spotlight post Students begin to build an understanding of adding numbers by using tools that make the place-value structure of numbers visible. In this video, we walk through a progression of tasks that build and connect to support students in developing more sophisticated strategies. We also show how a teacher might record students’ thinking on a recording sheet to help connect concrete experiences to more abstract representations.
