Introducing Cuisenaire Rods (C-Rods)
By Cindy Aossey (KCM) & Funda Gonulates (NKU)
Cuisenaire Rods, also called C-Rods, are a math manipulative that provides a supportive
linear structure. They can be used to teach a variety of topics including measurement,
fractions, and number operations. In this video, we describe the structure and relationships
among C-Rods, give examples of how C-rods can be introduced, and show how they can be used
to measure and explore fractions. See the related posts below for more examples of using
C-Rods in the classroom.
