Building Understanding of Division through Base-Ten Blocks and Area Models

a Spotlight post Students build an understanding of division using base-ten blocks and area models and by understanding division as a missing factor problem. In this video, we show how to represent a division expression, such as 168 รท 12, by building a rectangle with base-ten blocks to find the missing side length, and then connect this area model to using partial quotients to solve division problems.
