Learning Target: Students can identify numbers. Students can count one to one correspondence to 20 (number depends on how many students are in the classroom. Students can order numbers 1 to 20 (number depends on how many students are in the classroom).

Directions:
  1.  Before lesson,  print out a  photo of  each student, have enough apple cut-outs/objects for students to count, and number cards.
  2. Read the story.
  3. Students will choose a number card (to differentiate, have lower numbers in one pile and upper numbers in another pile).
  4. Students will count out that number of apple cut-outs  and/or  objects and place the cut-outs/objects above their picture.
  5. Each student will have a different number.
  6. Students will put their pictures in order by how many apples they have up on top of their head (picture).
  7. Discuss who had the most apples on  top and who had the least amount of apples on top.
