Fluency Readiness Assessments Introduction

The Kentucky Center for Mathematics is excited to offer the FREE KCM Fluency Readiness Assessments, a bank of assessments focused on evaluating foundational skills and conceptual understandings that are necessary for developing mathematical fluency in the domains of Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Number and Operations - Fractions. See the table below for a full list of the assessments currently available or coming soon. These assessments are an updated version of the KCM Fluency Assessments, which are still being offered. If you have completed the training and have an account, you can access the Fluency Assessments HERE.

Each assessment is anchored around a fluency or mastery benchmark and assesses the foundational skills and conceptual understandings that are necessary for and precede fluency. These formative assessments can be used to diagnose student readiness, monitor student progress, and determine instructional goals and needs.

Each assessment consists of 9 versions that can be used every 2 weeks to progress monitor student growth over a semester. Most are interview-based. These assessments can be used in their complete form, or selected questions can be used to focus on targeted skills and understandings.

To see an example of a Fluency Readiness Assessment, download Test 1 of FRA 20. For more information, watch our overview video and access the the slide deck from the informational video.

We ask that you register to receive access to all assessments. Your registration will let us track who is using the KCM Fluency Readiness Assessments and to keep you informed of updates and additions as we continue to enhance the assessments.
